Moving Art Management, in partnership with Creative Central: NCL, are excited to announce an open call for five emerging producers to join our new training and mentoring programme Pathways to Producing.
This is a paid mentoring and learning placement designed for recent graduates, emerging creatives, and those curious about building a career in arts producing.
Workshop’s will focus on the following areas:
Thriving as a Freelancer in the Arts and Culture Sector: Establishing as a freelancer, invoicing and receiving payment for freelance work and creating a vision statement for your practice.
Making and Producing Work in the Arts: Demystifying what a producer does, routes in to making and producing work and getting to grips with project budgets, contracts and timelines.
Fundraising and Finance for Creative Projects: Funding bid and application writing essentials, how to properly manage a project budget and understanding fair pay.
Building and Sustaining Partnerships in the Arts: Initiating and maintaining professional relationships, audience and community engagement, how to market and position your work.

About Creative Central Newcastle:
Creative Central NCL is a place for independent artists, creative professionals and cultural organisations to thrive in central Newcastle. Their goal is to see a city centre that is brought to life by artists and creatives, where their skills, practice and experience is a cornerstone of what makes the city attractive and unique. To do that, Creative Central NCL has received funding from the North East Combined Authority to support independent artists, creative professionals and cultural organisations in a whole range of ways from 2022 – 2027

What You Will Receive.
A £150/day bursary x 6 days of in person and online learning which includes:
Four hands-on skills workshops delivered by the Moving Art Management team alongside sector specialists covering: working in the freelance sector, making and producing work, fundraising and finance, and partnership building.
Bespoke one-to-one mentoring with experienced producers from the Moving Art Management team and Dance City team
Hands on work experience developing and delivering MAM’s portfolio of projects
A “Go and See” bursary of up to £100 to attend professional performance(s) of your choice to support your learning and development
Access to childcare and access support bursaries if eligible and needed
Who We’re Looking For.
We want to hear from people who are:
Recent graduates or early-career creatives (particularly ages 16-25) with a strong interest in producing and project management
Emerging artists/producers who currently make less than approx. 40% of their overall income from freelance / arts sector work
Those who aren’t currently registered as Self Employed or incorporated as a Company, and would like to action this status as part of the programme
Live in or are connected to the Creative Central Newcastle area. This must be demonstrable with up to 3 examples of recent projects in/connected to the area: please see a map of the Creative Central NCL area here - https://creativecentralncl.co.uk/map/
Excited to learn, experiment, and gain confidence in shaping, producing and managing creative projects
From diverse backgrounds – we are particularly interested in receiving applications from working-class, disabled, neurodiverse, and global majority creatives, as well as parents and carers
Participants will be required to be available for all workshop sessions based at Dance City, Newcastle, on the following dates:
Monday 24th November, 10:30am - 2:30pm
Tuesday 25th November, 10:30am - 2:30pm
Monday 26th January, 10:30am - 2:30pm
Wednesday 28th January, 10:30am - 2:30pm
No prior producing experience is necessary — just curiosity, commitment, and creativity!

When.
Applications open: Tuesday 7th October 2025
Programme runs: w/c Monday 24 November and w/c Monday 26 January 2026, with 1-2-1 mentoring sessions scheduled in agreement with candidates. Go and see activity can also take place depending on show availability.
