PIA is a new dance-music-visual production led by Barnsley artist-producer Tala Lee-Turton & choreographed by Katya Bourvis and set to Hannah Peel’s Mary Casio: Journey to Cassiopeia.
The work was co-commissioned by the Barbican and Barnsley Civic. Moving Art Management served as Line Producer.
We supported this fantastic work with planning, contracting and delivery, alongside place-based engagement with Barnsley care-home residents and local emerging artists.
PIA is an immersive live dance and music experience, blurring the boundaries between time and space as a woman grapples with her failing memory, her lost heritage, and her increasingly vivid dreams of astral transportation.
PIA draws on the 7-movement odyssey, Mary Cassio: Journey To Cassiopeia, by critically-lauded Barnsley composer, Hannah Peel. Footage captured from an initial residency.
